Services

Harris County Resources for Children and Adults provides free prevention and early intervention services for children through various programs. Some of these services are also provided to support the abused and neglected children involved with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The following are some of the services provided:

  • Prevention and early intervention services
  • Counseling and crisis intervention
  • School-based counseling
  • After school and summer programs
  • Youth leadership activities
  • Children's emergency shelter
  • Provision of supplies in emergency situations

These services are provided through various programs:

Community Youth Services (CYS) is a school-based crisis intervention and case coordination program offered in 14 school districts and in the community. The goal of the CYS program is to prevent school aged youth from becoming victims of child abuse, running away, dropping out of school or entering into delinquent behavior.

BEAR... Be A Resource for CPS Kids, provides goods and services to children involved with CPS including necessities, clothes, school supplies, holiday gifts, and adoption recruitment.

TRIAD provides countywide prevention and early intervention services to divert youth from involvement with the child welfare, mental health, and/or juvenile justice systems. Services include free counseling and therapy to families of youth with serious mental health issues, JP court services, parent-youth programs, youth leadership skills, mentoring, and a 24-hour hotline for families in crisis.

Emergency Shelter provides short-term residential services for youth, ages 12-17, who are in need of shelter and care due to abuse, neglect, homelessness and/or severe family conflict.
